Summer Jazz Camp at Roy's Place 2013
| Summer Jazz Camp is a two week, fun and educational music experience for students to improve their skills, make new friends, and learn more about the world of jazz. Whether you are a 5th grade student who is new to jazz, an experienced jazz musician in high school, or anywhere in between, Summer Jazz Camp is for you! At the end of camp, a jazz concert is held so you can show off your new musical abilities. The Daily Schedule will reflect two rehearsals and one session. There will be several breaks and lunch will be at noon. (Participants are asked to provide their own packed lunch.) Seats are limited, so sign up early! Ensembles OfferedJazz EnsembleThis high school level group is designed for the advancing, more experienced jazz musician and features a traditional Big Band line up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitar, bass, piano and drums. Jazz BandFor the developing middle school jazz student focusing on basic Big Band concepts. This group features a traditional Big Band line up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitar, bass, piano and drums. Jazz Lab BandThis group is designed for the younger musician from 5th to 6th grade. No experience is required and all instruments are welcome.   
Ensemble SessionsDuring Ensemble Sessions, we will offer students a greater opportunity to explore the wonderful world of jazz. We will offer daily ”doses” of well-needed advice, tips and encouragement. Topics like the ones listed below are designed to provide any aspiring musician with a better knowledge of theory and the practical side of the language of jazz:
