Kennelly Keys Music is the Northwest's leader in musical instrument repair. Our state-of-the-art shops are staffed with experts in each repair department. You can be sure your instrument, whether it be in the woodwind, guitar, orchestral, percussion or brasswind family, will be serviced by qualified repair professionals. Student Instrument Repair Services

Labor rates for standard repair services. Parts, if needed, are extra. A repair technician may contact you with additional information or concerns regarding any repair.

There is a $25 Service Assessment Fee for all instruments sent to the Repair Shop for evaluation. This charge will be credited towards the repair or replacement of the instrument in needed.

Standard Repair Service (A)

Complete mechanical repair. Includes a thorough cleaning (wipedown of woodwinds), adjustment and regulation. Recommended for damaged instruments or regular yearly service.
$85 per hour plus parts

Adjust & Regulate (B)

Includes adjustment, regulation and/or minor repair. Recommended for periodic maintenance and minor repairs.
$45 per half hour plus parts - $25 minimum

Only As Requested (C)

Only work specifically requested will be performed. Recommended for specific repairs.
$85 per hour plus parts - $25 minimum.

Student Instruments refer to student model or level of the following instruments: Flute/Piccolo, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, French Horn, Oboe, Violin, Viola

Standard Shop Rates: $85 per hour, Minimum Fee: $25, parts extra.

Paul Woltz

Paul Woltz - Woodwinds, Double Reeds
Lead Technician
As an oboe and bassoon specialist, Paul has mastered his craft with over 37 years of experience as a professional repair technician and musician. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor in Music on Bassoon and operated a repair shop in California for several years. His work is trusted by many of Washington's professional musicians, including members from the Seattle Symphony and other major performing groups. As a professional bassoonist, Paul performed for 10 years at Disneyland and also worked as a studio musician in Hollywood. He has recently performed with the 5th Ave Theater and plays regularly with the Cascade Symphony and The Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band, a touring Dixieland band.

John Mascorella

John Mascorella - Brass
Lead Technician
John Mascorella has been a Journey repair technician since 1973. He has mentored countless repair technicians in the Seattle area and frequently is invited by the Renton Technical College to be a keynote speaker for their Instrument Repair division. As a professional trombonist, he has performed with The Temptations, Bob Hope, the Andrews Sisters, Buddy Greco, Hal Linden, Harry Blackstone, Rich Little, and the Lawrence Welk Singers. Currently, he can be seen performing with the critically acclaimed Market Street Dixieland Jass Band.

Bob Merrihew

Bob Merrihew - Woodwind, Brass, Percussion
Lead Technician
Bob Merrihew graduated from Renton Technical College in 1989 and became a member of the repair technicians association, NAPBIRT. As the manager of the Kennelly Keys Music repair shop, Bob is in charge of ordering, oversees all repair work and is in charge of quality control for the department. As a professional drummer, Bob can be seen performing with File Gumbo, Market Street Dixieland Jass Band, Lonnie Williams Quintet, Seattle Central Jazz Orchestra and critically claimed guitarist, Bruce Beachman's contemporary jazz group.

Jimmy Roberts

Jimmy Roberts - Guitar, Bass
Master Technician, Jimmy Roberts has been an integral part of the Kennelly Keys Music repair department since 2003. Jimmy's work is exemplary and consistently of the highest quality. Jimmy specializes in acoustic and electric guitar repair with an emphasis on vintage guitar restoration. His extensive repair knowledge covers guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, autoharp, ukulele and many other string instruments. His technical strengths include acoustic pick up installations, orchestral string set-ups, fret dressing, and troubleshooting electronic problems. As a professional guitarist Jimmy plays and performs with his Christian rock band, Broken Chains.

Matt Williams

Matt Williams - Stringed Instruments
Matt started with Kennelly Keys in March 1999 repairing violins, violas, cellos and upright basses. As a life-long musician Matt has played the trumpet, tuba, guitar, piano and electric bass. Aside from being a talented repair technician, Matt is an accomplished accountant, receiving his Bachelor's degree in accounting from Central Washington University in 2007. Matt also performs with the Evergreen Community Orchestra.

Nick Collins

Nick Collins - Woodwinds
Lead Technician
Nick Collins has been an integral member of the Kennelly Keys Music repair department since 2004. He has mentored under master technician, Paul Woltz and Renton Technical College instructor, Dan Bainbridge. As a lead technician, Nick specializes in woodwinds with an emphasis on low woodwinds. Nick plays all woodwinds and can be seen around town playing in many top local performing ensembles.

Dave Cole

David Cole - Brass
Seattle native, David Cole, has been a valued member of Kennelly Keys Music's repair staff since 2010. As a brass repair specialist, Dave is in top demand, with many local educators requesting David to perform the work on their instruments. With a BA and Masters of Music from Western Washington State University, he maintains an active playing schedule and can be seen performing with the Village Theatre, Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Seattle, Seattle Choral Company, Cascadia Brass, and Pacific Brass. David is a founding member of Seattle Trumpet Consort, a period instrument ensemble that performs on replica 17th century trumpets.

Sara Voskuhl

Sara Voskuhl - Woodwind, Brass
Originally from Springfield Virginia, Sara went on to study cartography/geography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later started a career in cartography. Mapping out a new career, Sara completed her Instrument Repair certification from Renton Technical College in Spring 2014. As a NAPBIRT member and woodwind specialist, she shows great attention to detail and is a valuable member of the repair staff.

Stephanie Brown

Stephanie Brown
Stephanie Brown's job is to insure that the entire rental inventory is maintained, inspected, playable and up to band director specifications. Stephanie has been a valued employee of Kennelly Keys Music since 2006.

Christopher Briden

Christopher Briden - Stringed Instruments
Christopher Briden received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Violin String repair technical degree at Indiana University. Recently he completed an Artist’s Diploma program at Cornish College of the Arts under Margriet Tindemans. In addition to the viola da gamba, he studies renaissance music theory, rhetoric and history.

Mimi Morohoshi

Mimi Morohoshi -
Originally from Yokohama Japan, Mimi Graduated from the University of Michigan receiving her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. She practiced as a chiropractor in New Hampshire and Washington until she broke into Band Instrument Repair by completing her certification at Renton Technical College. Aside from being an excellent repair tech she also plays guitar and reads voraciously.

Blain Heller

Blain Heller -
Originally from Lyman Wyoming, Blain recently completed his certification of instrument repair at Renton Technical College. As an accomplished saxophonist, Blain has performed with many groups and ensembles and can be seen performing in the greater Seattle area.

Amy Coffman

Amy Coffman - Woodwind
Amy embarked on her instrument repair career as an apprentice at the Interlochen Art Camp in Michigan. Prior to studying instrument repair, she earned her degree in flute performance from Missouri State University. As a graduate of Renton Technical College and NAPBIRT member, she is a wonderful addition to the Kennelly Keys Music Repair Staff.


Erik Yager

Erik Yager - Guitar

Erik understands that each and every player has unique requirements and expectations concerning the set-up and repairs of their instruments, strives to meet these demands with integrity and the highest quality craftsmanship. Erik is a Gibson endorsed artist as well as the founder and front man of the rock band "Headswell.” Being a performing musician himself, he understands the need for your instrument to be in the best possible condition. Whether you're a touring pro, jamming with friends, or just starting lessons, Erik will ensure that your instrument will allow you to play at its absolute best.
