Conn Constellation 28A Long Cornet w/Case (Vintage 1956) - Used

Vintage 1956 Conn Constellation 28A Cornet (Early Model). Includes original hard case and two mouthpieces. Item was cleaned and adjusted by our shop. This was Conn's flagship Cornet when it was released in 1955 and is well regarded player horn to this day. This entry has very little lacquer wear and has stunning cosmetics.
The unique 28A, designed to look like a trumpet, is accepted by professionals as the best long model cornet on the market. Every detail of construction reflects an elegance of craftsmanship which has made this model the leader in its field. This cornet has a tonal "edge" which adds a beauty of brilliance for solo or ensemble playing. The 28A will serve a dual purpose, for many professionals use it as a trumpet or a cornet. By using a shallower and narrower cornet mouthpiece, this cornet could be made to sound like a trumpet. On the other hand, by using a deeper cup and a wider rim mouthpiece, the 28A would have a true cornet sound. This unusual versatility is aptly demonstrated by the serious student who uses this model in concert band as a cornet and also for stage band or dance band work as a trumpet!
"Here's the "cornet of tomorrow"... the world's first cornet that looks like a trumpet! And, it has the most consistently good scale of any cornet ever made. Features scientific CALI-BORE (tone chamber calibration); non-corroding, acoustically correct mouthpipe with MICRO-FINISH on the inside; seamless ELECTRO-D bell; lightning fast, quiet top spring, pin suspension, clickless crysteel valves with precision-lapped slides for instant, accurate adjustment while playing and Nylon piston guide which reduces valve noise to a minimum at the same time adding longer life as compared to former metal guide. Trigger mechanism on first valve, easily operated because of the precision-lapped slides, gives player added flexibility in both high and low ranges. Length 21 3/8", weight 2 lbs. 12 oz. bell diameter 5 1/8". Outfit includes beautiful Connstellation case. Highly polished nickel plated finish with brass trim, protected by longer lasting, acid resistant LUSTRE-CONN finish."
