Antonio Portela is a trombonist with a diverse performance background that began when he joined the United States Marine Corps in 2001 and attended the Armed Forces School of Music.
When Antonio’s contract with the Marine Corps ended in 2005 he continued his military service as a member of the 59th Army Band. While in school Antonio played in a variety of ensembles including the Sacramento State Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, Roseville Brass Quintet, the 59th Army Band.
In 2011 Antonio moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend DePaul University for a master’s degree in trombone performance. Under their tutelage Antonio has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performed as a freelance musician with many other groups around the Chicago area.
In 2018 Antonio relocated to Seattle, Washington to continue performing and teaching throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has since performed with The 5th Aveune Musical Theater Company, The Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Symphony Tacoma, and The Auburn Symphony Orchestra.
